Apparently, meandering is how prairie rivers prefer to travel.
This is best done in a wide, flat valley. Embankments (gentle
slopes sporting bushes and trees, or steep slopes creating
dramatic rocky edges) define a general winding shape through
the landscape, wherein the river is free to wriggle, twist, and
turn ad libitum...
