Werner tries to contact Flight Service on the radio, but never gets an answer. He can hear the commmunications between the controller and another pilot who is approaching the airport, but it is obvious that no one can hear us. Werner flies further away from the airport zone to hook up his emergency radio. Now he makes contact and gets permission to land. Coming in a little too fast, he decides to overshoot the airfield and circles around once more. In the meantime, the other airplane comes in and lands. Werner follows him, and makes a nice smooth landing. We taxi alongside farm fields. The drooping windsock explains our good progress today. A tractor, its drone swallowed up by the big sky and some distance, glides silently back and forth, just below a shallow ridge, parallel to the runway. But what was the problem with our radio?
