Leaving Dryden

Waterloo to Calgary in a Cessna 150

Our take-off view down to the tarmac, making
even the real water bombers look like toys

We are excited about this leg: after some spectacular
lake scenery promised by the blue shapes splattered on
the map, we will finally cross the border into Manitoba,
for our very first experience of the Canadian Prairies
(that is, closer than the 30,000 ft. view from an airliner).
The sky is dull grey as we set out, but visibility is great,
and we expect to get to St. Andrews before any of the
predicted rain comes in from the west.

(However, these water bombers had larger-than-life work last month,
fighting major forest fires in northwestern Ontario).
